But ns don't want the decimal location in the divison trouble so ns multiply tem both by 10,000 so it's now
750000 / 3333
And currently I'm in long department hell. I know long division and I've being doing it a lot of recently, however this feeling particuarly nasty. The entirety thing take it me a an extremely long time. Ns was wondering if ns was missing some type of easier means of doing all this.
You are watching: What is 1/3 of 75
This is my very first time posting, below and first time make the efforts to style a post. Also after 2 hours math exercise this morning my brain is fried, so ns may have actually made a stupid mistake here. Thanks for any help.

You should write the percent together an improper fraction, i beg your pardon is 100/3. Then it becomes a lot much easier to work-related with:
x * 100/3 = 75
x = 75 * 3/100

Thanks for replying.
Then must I simply divide the 3 by 100, and get 0.3 and carry on together before? I carry out I main point 75/1 * 100/3? i did shot that but ending no where near the answer.
edit: I should wait prior to replying. I'm just having one more go.

33 1/3%
means
(33 + 1/3)%
Now revolve it right into an not correct fraction:
(33 + 1/3)%
becomes
(<33(3) + 1>/3)%
(100/3)%
And mental that when a number is in percent form, it's been multiplied through 100 to acquire there. To get the number chin back, divide the percent by 100:
(100/3)/100
1/3
Now usage 1/3 rather of 0.3333:
75/(1/3)
75(3)
225

Thank you that renders perfect sense. One point I'm struggling on his exactly how to calculate (100/3) / 100. If you might clarrify the measures that would certainly be really helpful.

Obviously the writer picked this certain percent since its a typical fraction. 33 1/3% is 1/3, therefore the question is 1/3 that what number is 75.
1/3 that __ = 75

So I transform the 33 1/3% to a decimal. Which i think need to be... 0.3333
Careful.
33 1/3% means (33 1/3) / 100. You can simplify this in two steps: (1) eliminate the portion in the molecule by multiplying top and also bottom through 3, which gives 100 / 300; climate (2) divide top and bottom by 100 to acquire 1/3.
Now, 0.3333 is 3333 / 10000, and also that is not the exact same as 1/3. The fraction 1/3 does not terminate (it has actually an infinite variety of decimal places), not simply four.
Because 0.3333... Is a non-terminating decimal, it's easier just to work in fractions throughout.
